Wrong door opening in car graphic
#1
Hi all,

I have a few questions and am new to this product and a complete novice where anything computers are concerned, so apologies if this irritates anyone.

I have an Avin Avant 4 in a 2002 E46 M3 in the UK (RHD)

1. On the OBC display in the ibus app, I have the central graphic showing the car which displays if the lights are on, doors are open etc. In addition to this, the Avin has a similar graphic that displays in front of whatever app you have open.

The problem is that when I open the right door (drivers in the UK) the left door opens in the display. This is a standard problem that has come up in mulitple search engines - so I have looked up the solution which is to go into the factory settings menu on the avin settings screen, enter the password, go to the canbus option, and under the door heading, select swap.

This works for the Avin graphic, but has no effect on the ibus graphic in the OBC screen. It affects which side door is open but also which side window is open.

2. At the bottom left of the OBC screen, there are additional graphics for the time, some kind of temperature display and a percentage - I think they are ecu data. How do I turn them off?

3. I'm going to research this some more as I think it's a FAQ, but is there a setting that will get the oil temperature working?

Thanks in advance.

Hi! Welcome to the club. No worries, we all started somewhere. Here are the quick answers:

1. RHD Door Swap
The Avin factory settings only change the radio's graphic, not the app. To fix it in the app, go to I-BUS App Settings -> Vehicle Settings -> Steering position / Car Graphic and switch it from LHD to RHD. This will mirror both the doors and windows.

2. Hide ECU data
Go to I-BUS App Settings -> Screen/Layout Settings, look for the option called "Show lower status bar" and just uncheck it to hide those stats.

3. Oil Temperature for E46 M3
Since you have an M3, it works perfectly. Go to I-BUS App Settings -> OBD/ECU Settings and enable "Read oil temperature via e46 M3 protocol". Then just assign "Oil Temp" to any display field in your layout.

Some comments also ;-)

  1. correct, there is an option "mirror doors/RHD" to be enabled in "central lock settings" in I-BUS app.
  2. the values on left botton are date / time / CPU utilization / CPU temperature (last both if supported only) - you may set "clock format" and enable/disable "CPU info" in "on-board computer" settings in I-BUS app
  3. options to show oil temp are: LCM2/3 or LCM4 (E38/E39/E53 only!), eKombi, DeepOBD or CAN  - there is no "E46 M3 protocoll" or similar
Please note that for oil temp in BMW46 there is additional hardware needed like either eKombi module, DeepOBD app (with special bluetooth interface) or CAN interface (only for M52TU and M54 engine - not sure if S54 also got the REAL oil temp sensor like M54 got)

More infos:
What does not work for BMW E46, E83, E85,.. (as not supplied by the factory)
Interface comparison: Resler interface / Resler module / DeepOBD BT interface / CAN interface
